Sometimes I can’t even react to my own emotions without people judgeing me on them first. Sometimes everything just hurts.

Taking Care of Chapped Lips
—-
I get questions about how I care for chapped lips in order for lip color to look perfect.
Well the truth is, my lips are sensitive and always dry or chapped, which is extremely ironic considering I love lipsticks and lip products in general.
There are a few things I’ve found that can help with the appearance when you want to rock a really strong lip:
- Quick-fix - Exfoliate gently with a salve or balm. I apply something like Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream (it contains salicylic acid to exfoliate dead cells), and let it sit for a few minutes before i buff my lip gently with a ring finger to start removing flakes. I don’t like using a toothbrush, but it does work for some. Just be careful if you have sensitive lips as this can make it worse after a couple of hours.
- Keep an eye open for things that make your lips chap. Many people have a sensitivity to glittery or sparkly lipsticks. I do. They make me flake within the hour, so I know I have a sensitivity to them. Now, I don’t wear anything sparkly unless it’s a thick gloss.
- If your lips are already chapped or you already got rashes/dermatitis, make sure you care for it and wear a cushy, creme-finish gloss to hide the redness around the borders and also to provide a cushioning barrier since they can rub against each other and make things feel worse. When mine get this way, I splurge and use Dior Lip Addict gloss/treatment as it’s not only super thick and cushy-feeling, but also has light-reflecting properties that mask the appearance of stressed-out lips quite well. Don’t try to wear matte or satin lipsticks when your lips are this way.
